Add the Allinaa chatbot to a Weebly site
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Weebly has no app route for a chat widget any more, and we could not find a current Weebly help page that describes its header and footer code boxes. What exists is a well-known route that many guides use: a site-wide footer code box in the site's SEO settings. This page gives you that route honestly, tells you what to confirm in Weebly's own help, and shows how to check the result.
What is confirmed and what is not
Weebly's App Center stopped accepting new apps on February 28, 2020, as Weebly announced in its seller community, so there is no Allinaa app for Weebly and there will not be one. Code is the route. The usual place is a site-wide footer or header code setting under the site's SEO settings; we could not open a Weebly help page confirming the menu, so take the names below as a starting point and let Weebly's help decide. Whether a paid plan is needed for site-wide code is not verified either.
Get your code
Your code is in your Allinaa cabinet: step 5 of the setup wizard, or the "Website installation" card on the Overview (sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start if you have no account yet). It looks like this, with your own bot id:
<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>Step by step
- Open your site's settings in the Weebly editor and look for the SEO settings, where guides place the site-wide header and footer code boxes.
- Paste the code into the footer code box. The header box works too: the script is deferred and waits for the page before adding its button.
- Save the settings.
- Publish the site; a saved setting is not live until you publish.
If you cannot find the boxes, check in Weebly's help for "footer code" or "header code". A per-page alternative is an embed code element placed on a page, which gives the chat on that page only.
Weebly and Square Online
Weebly belongs to Square, and some sites started on Weebly have been moved to Square Online. If your editor looks like Square's, use the Square Online guide instead: there the code is added as an embed section per page, on the Plus or Premium plan.
Check the installation
- Open the published site, not the editor, in a private browser window.
- Look for the chat button in a bottom corner, then open a second page.
- Ask something your approved knowledge covers.
- In your Allinaa cabinet click Check my site: it reads your homepage and up to two pages it links to and answers found, not found or unreachable.
If the button does not appear
- Not published since the setting was saved.
- The code is in a text element and shows as text. Remove it there and use the code box.
- The box is missing on your plan. Check in your platform's help, or send the code to your developer, who may know your site's plan.
The troubleshooting page covers caching and the other general causes.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an Allinaa app for Weebly?
No. Weebly's App Center has accepted no new apps since February 28, 2020, so the code is the route.
Where exactly is the footer code box?
Guides place it in the site's SEO settings. We could not confirm the menu on a Weebly help page: check in your platform's help.
Does site-wide code need a paid Weebly plan?
Not verified. If the box is missing from your settings, Weebly's help or support can tell you.
Header or footer box?
Either. The script is deferred and waits for the page body before adding its button.
