Hand the installation to your web developer

Written by the Allinaa team · Updated

You don't have to install the assistant yourself. If someone else looks after your website, Allinaa can e-mail them the code and the right instructions, and you can confirm from your cabinet when it's done.

When to hand it off

Hand it over when any of these is true:

  • An agency, freelancer or in-house developer manages your site, and you don't have admin access.
  • Your site is custom-built, or its code lives in a repository with a review and deploy process.
  • Your site has a strict Content Security Policy, or several environments (staging and live) that need the same change.
  • You simply prefer that the person who knows the site makes the change.

If you use a common builder and have admin access, it is usually quicker to do it yourself. The WordPress guide, for example, takes five clicks.

Emailing the code from your cabinet

First, create the assistant: sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start and work through the setup wizard. Then, in step 5, "Install", or in the cabinet card "Website installation":

  1. Find Send the code to my web developer.
  2. Enter your developer's e-mail address.
  3. Click Send the code.

A few limits keep this from being misused:

  • One address receives the code at most once a day, whichever business asks.
  • A business can send the code up to five times a day.
  • Sending works while your trial is running or your service is active. If the trial has ended or the service is paused, you can still copy the code and send it yourself.

The e-mail arrives with the fixed subject line "The code of your website assistant", so tell your developer to look for it.

What your developer receives

The message says which business asked for it and contains:

  • The one-line script tag, ready to paste.
  • Where it goes: just before the closing </body> tag of every page, or in the footer or "custom code" box of the website builder.
  • Links to the official help pages of WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Tilda and Google Tag Manager, plus the plain HTML instruction.
  • A note that on WordPress you can download a ready-made plugin from your cabinet.

It also says plainly that nothing else is needed: no key, no password and no Allinaa account for the developer. The same line works on every page. A developer who wants more detail can read the plain HTML guide.

'Check my site': homepage plus up to two linked pages, robots.txt respected

When your developer says it's done, click Check my site in the cabinet. It:

  • reads the homepage of the website saved in your account, and up to two pages it links to on the same domain;
  • respects the site's robots.txt, so a page your robots rules block isn't read;
  • looks for a script tag carrying your bot id;
  • answers found (and on which page), not found, or unreachable.

You can run it up to ten times an hour. It reads only what your server sends, so a tag added through Google Tag Manager won't be found; see the Tag Manager guide for that case.

Passive detection when a visitor loads a page

There is also a quieter signal. When anyone, including you, loads a page of your website with the assistant on it, Allinaa notes it, and the installation card shows installed. Only your site's origin is recorded, such as https://www.example.com/, never the page path, because paths can carry things like reset links or e-mail addresses. This signal is a helpful hint; the active check is the authoritative one.

The code contains no secret

The script tag holds the address of the Allinaa script, your public bot id and the defer attribute. It is safe to send by e-mail, put in a ticket or paste in a chat. Your cabinet login is separate and should never be shared; your developer doesn't need it.

Before you go live, run through the launch checklist, and if the check keeps saying not found, see the troubleshooting page.

Frequently asked questions

Does my web developer need an Allinaa account?

No. The e-mail contains the code and the instructions; no account, key or password is needed to install it.

Why can't I send the code to the same developer twice today?

One address receives the code at most once a day. Copy the code from the cabinet and send it yourself if you need to resend sooner.

Why is the Send the code button refused after my trial ended?

Sending and checking work while a trial is running or the service is active. The code itself stays visible, so you can copy it.

Does Check my site crawl my whole website?

No. It reads your homepage and up to two pages it links to, and it respects your robots.txt.
