Add the Allinaa chatbot to a Square Online store
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Square Online, the website builder that comes with Square, accepts third-party code in one specific way: as an embedded code section on a page, on the Plus or Premium plan. The Tracking Tools setting that many sellers know is only for the tracking codes Square lists, so the Allinaa line does not go there. Here is the route Square's own help describes, and what it means for where the chat appears.
The plan and the per-page limit
Square's help article Add external content and widgets with embedded code in Square Online says embedded code is available on the Plus and Premium plans and is added as a section on a page. The chat therefore appears on the pages where you add the section. A site-wide script setting is not something we could verify on a Square page; if you find one, Square's help is the authority.
Get your code
The line comes from your Allinaa cabinet. After you sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start and approve the knowledge the wizard drafts from your public pages, step 5 of the wizard shows it, and the Overview keeps it under "Website installation":
<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>Step by step: an Embed code section
- Open the Square Online site editor and go to a page, starting with the homepage.
- Add a section and choose the embed code option, as Square's article shows.
- Paste your code into it and save. The section can be anywhere on the page; the chat button is drawn in a corner of the screen.
- Repeat on each page where the chat should appear: your shop pages, about and contact.
- Publish the site so the sections go live.
Why not Settings, Tracking Tools
Square's Tracking Tools page lists the analytics and advertising codes that setting accepts. It is built for those listed tools, not for arbitrary scripts, so the Allinaa line has no place there. Pasting it into a tracking field will not add the chat.
Shop pages and checkout
Add the section to the pages where customers have questions: product and category pages most of all, because that is where "is this in stock" and "how long is delivery" are asked. Whether an embedded section can be placed on Square's checkout is not something we verified; count on the pages you add it to, and make sure your approved knowledge covers delivery, returns and payment so the assistant answers before the customer reaches checkout.
Check the installation
Check from both sides. As a visitor: open the live site in a private window, look for the button in a bottom corner and open a second page, so you know it is not limited to one. From Allinaa: click Check my site in the cabinet; it reads your homepage and up to two linked pages and answers found, not found or unreachable. The status also turns to installed by itself the first time the assistant loads on a page of your site.
If the button is missing, the troubleshooting page lists the usual causes. Running a different shop platform? See the Shopify and BigCommerce guides.
Frequently asked questions
Which Square Online plan allows embedded code?
Plus or Premium, per Square's help article on embedded code.
Can I add the Allinaa code once for the whole site?
Square's help describes embedded code as a section on a page, so it is added page by page. A site-wide setting is not verified; check Square's help if you believe your plan offers one.
Does the code go into Tracking Tools?
No. That setting takes only the tracking codes Square lists.
Will the chatbot see my Square catalog?
Not by itself. The assistant answers from the knowledge you approve; you can describe your products there.
