An AI shopping assistant for small online stores
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Small online stores lose sales to unanswered questions: a shopper isn't sure about the size, can't find the return policy, or wonders whether the charger fits their model. An Allinaa assistant answers those questions from your product pages and policies, while the shopper is still on the page, and says plainly what it can't do, such as look up an order.
Pre-purchase questions that stop a checkout
- "Does this run small? I'm usually a medium."
- "Is this compatible with the 2021 model?"
- "Will it arrive before Saturday if I order today?"
- "Can I return it if it doesn't fit? Who pays return shipping?"
- "Is this the same as the one in your photo, or a different color?"
- "Do you ship to Canada?"
Each has an answer somewhere on your site. The assistant brings that answer into the conversation.
Sizing, materials and compatibility from the product page
The assistant knows which product the shopper is viewing and reads that page's visible text: description, specifications, size chart text and materials. That's why well-written product pages matter. If the size chart exists only as an image, the assistant can't read it, so add the measurements as text or into the knowledge. When information isn't there, the assistant should say it isn't listed and offer to have you answer by e-mail. It is not allowed to invent product facts, and it only shares links from your pages or your approved knowledge.
Shipping, returns and exchanges quoted from your policy pages
Paste your shipping and returns policies into the knowledge exactly as published: processing times, carriers and delivery estimates, free-shipping thresholds, international shipping, return window, condition requirements, who pays return shipping, and how exchanges work. The assistant then quotes your policy instead of a paraphrase that might promise more than you offer. AI answers can be wrong, so ask it a few tricky policy questions during setup ("can I return a sale item worn once?").
Find it from a photo (Premium): price, availability and a link
On Premium, you import your catalog as a CSV or JSON file with names, prices, availability and links to your own product pages. Shoppers can then upload a photo or describe what they want ("a blue linen shirt like this"), and the assistant replies with matching products from your catalog: name, price, availability and a link. Uploaded images are checked for malware and stored privately. Prices and stock come from your last import, so re-import when they change. See photo product search.
Order status: what the assistant can and cannot see
The assistant cannot look up individual orders. It isn't connected to your store's order system, and the widget skips pages whose address has a segment such as account, cart, checkout or order. For "where's my order?", it can explain your processing times, tell the customer where to find tracking (usually the shipping confirmation e-mail or their account page), and collect a support request with their order number and e-mail so you can follow up. See order, shipping and returns questions.
Wholesale and bulk inquiries
A message like "do you sell wholesale?" can be your most valuable conversation of the week. Add a short wholesale section to the knowledge with minimums and how to apply if you publish them, and the assistant asks a few clarifying questions (business name, type of store, products of interest, quantities) before capturing an inquiry. You get an e-mail and the inquiry is saved with a status and notes in your inbox.
Installing on Shopify or WordPress with WooCommerce
The setup wizard gives you a short code snippet and step-by-step guides. For Shopify, see our Shopify install guide. For WordPress stores, including WooCommerce, you can download a small plugin generated for your store or follow the WordPress install guide. An install check in the setup screen confirms the assistant is live on your site.

Questions owners ask
Can the chatbot check an order's status?
No. It isn't connected to your order system. It explains where to find tracking and collects a support request with the order number.
How does photo product search get my products?
On Premium, you import your catalog as a CSV or JSON file with names, prices, availability and links. Re-import when prices or stock change.
Will it make up product details?
It is instructed to answer only from your product pages and approved knowledge, and to say when a detail isn't listed. AI answers can still be wrong, so test it before launch.
Does it work with Shopify and WooCommerce?
Yes, as a website chat installed with a code snippet or, for WordPress, a small plugin. It doesn't connect to the store's order or inventory systems.
