Add the Allinaa chatbot to a Jimdo site
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Jimdo is two products, and that decides whether the Allinaa code can be added at all. Jimdo Creator has a head code area on its paid plans; the newer no-code builder reportedly accepts no custom HTML. Both statements come from vendor guides, not from a Jimdo page we could cite, so this guide tells you what to confirm and what to do in each case, including the fallback for a site that cannot take a script.
Which Jimdo do you have
If your editor has a settings area with an "edit head" option, you are on Jimdo Creator, and the route below applies on the paid plans. If your editor is the Jimdo website builder with no place for code, vendor guides say custom HTML is not possible there. Neither point is verified with Jimdo itself: check in your platform's help for your product and plan before you spend time searching for a code box.
Get your code
You need your own code first. Sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start for the 14-day free trial, confirm your e-mail and follow the setup wizard; step 5, "Install", shows one line:
<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>Jimdo Creator: the head code area
- Open your site's settings in the Creator editor.
- Find the head code area (vendor guides call it "edit head"; for the exact place, check in Jimdo's help).
- Paste your code and save. The head is fine for the assistant: the script is deferred and waits for the page body before adding its button.
- Open the live site in a private window to check.
The no-code builder: the hosted chat page
A site that cannot take a script can still offer the assistant through its hosted chat page, at https://bot.allinaa.com/chat/your-bot-id, with your own bot id in it. The link opens a full-page chat with your assistant. Add it to your Jimdo site as a button or a link ("Ask us a question"), and visitors reach the same assistant with the same approved knowledge. The Google Sites guide describes this route in more detail, because Google Sites has the same limit.
Check the installation
Open the live site in a private window and look for the button; then click Check my site in your cabinet, which reads the homepage and up to two pages it links to. If the button is there but the check says not found, the pages it read are probably cached or the code sits on pages it did not open; the status turns to installed anyway once the assistant loads on any page of your site.
If the button does not appear on Jimdo Creator
- Your plan has no head code area. Check in your platform's help; the hosted chat page works on any plan.
- The code was pasted into a text element and shows as text. Use the head code area.
- Caching. Open the site in a private window.
