Add the Allinaa chatbot to a HubSpot CMS website
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
HubSpot CMS has a site-wide footer HTML setting, so the Allinaa assistant is one paste for every page of a domain. HubSpot's help also describes a per-page field for the odd page that should differ. Allinaa is not a HubSpot integration and does not read your HubSpot data: it is a script on your pages that answers from the knowledge you approve. Here is where the script goes, from HubSpot's own help page.
Where HubSpot's help puts site-wide code
HubSpot's article Use code snippets with HubSpot content names two places. For every page of a domain: click the settings icon in the top navigation bar, then in the left sidebar go to Content, then Pages; choose the domain to edit, or Default settings for all domains to cover all HubSpot-hosted content, and use the Site footer HTML section. For one page: in the content editor open the Settings menu, choose Advanced, and use the Footer HTML field under Additional code snippets. The article also says that editing options for head and footer HTML vary by subscription and content type, and that the footer HTML field is not available for blog posts or knowledge base articles.
Get your code
Your code is in your Allinaa cabinet: step 5 of the setup wizard, or the "Website installation" card on the Overview (sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start if you have no account yet). It looks like this, with your own bot id:
<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>Step by step: the site footer
- In HubSpot click the settings icon in the top navigation bar, then in the left sidebar open Content, then Pages.
- Choose the domain the setting should apply to, or Default settings for all domains. For one domain, the article says to click Override default settings in the Site footer HTML section first.
- Paste your code into the Site footer HTML section and click Save.
- Open a published page to check; HubSpot applies the footer setting to the pages it serves.
One page only
For a single landing page, open that page in the content editor, click the Settings menu, choose Advanced, and paste the code into the Footer HTML field under Additional code snippets; then publish or update the page. HubSpot's article says this footer HTML field is not available for blog posts or knowledge base articles. The per-page field is useful for a campaign page that should carry the assistant while the rest of the site does not, or to test on one page before the site-wide setting. The assistant knows which page it is on, so landing-page answers stay specific; see chat on landing pages.
The subscription note
HubSpot's page says editing options for head and footer HTML vary by subscription and content type. If the Site footer HTML section is missing from your settings, that is the likely reason; check in your platform's help for what your subscription includes before looking for a fault in the code.
Check the installation
Open the live site in a private window and look for the button; then click Check my site in your cabinet, which reads the homepage and up to two pages it links to. If the button is there but the check says not found, the pages it read are probably cached or the code sits on pages it did not open; the status turns to installed anyway once the assistant loads on any page of your site.
The general causes are on the troubleshooting page.
