Add the Allinaa chatbot to a Framer site

Written by the Allinaa team · Updated

Framer sites take custom code in the site settings, with a field for the end of the body, which is exactly where the Allinaa line belongs. The one thing people forget is that custom code runs on the published site, not in the editor's preview. This guide follows Framer's own custom code page and says what it does not cover.

Custom code in Framer

Framer's custom code page describes the fields in the site settings: code for the start and end of the head, and for the start and end of the body. The code applies to the published site. For a chat widget, the end of the body is the right field: the page is rendered first and the assistant's button is added after it.

Get your code

The line comes from your Allinaa cabinet. After you sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start and approve the knowledge the wizard drafts from your public pages, step 5 of the wizard shows it, and the Overview keeps it under "Website installation":

<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>

Step by step

  1. Open your project and go to Site settings.
  2. Open the Custom code section.
  3. Paste your code into the field for the end of the body tag and save.
  4. Publish the site. The preview in the editor does not run custom code; the published site does.

Which Framer plan

Vendor guides say custom code needs a paid Framer site plan. Framer's custom code page as we read it does not state the plan, so this page does not either: if the custom code section is missing or disabled in your site settings, check in your platform's help for what your plan includes.

Staging and the free Framer address

If you publish to a Framer address for testing before connecting your own domain, the button appears there too, but the assistant's page-aware answers use the website address saved in your Allinaa account. Set your real domain as the website in the setup, and test on it when it is live; the chat itself works on both.

Check the installation

  1. Open the published site, not the editor, in a private browser window.
  2. Look for the chat button in a bottom corner, then open a second page.
  3. Ask something your approved knowledge covers.
  4. In your Allinaa cabinet click Check my site: it reads your homepage and up to two pages it links to and answers found, not found or unreachable.

Not there? The published site may be older than the setting; publish again. Other causes: the troubleshooting page. Designers who also build in Webflow will find the Webflow guide almost identical.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the chatbot not show in the Framer editor?

Custom code runs on the published site only. Publish and open the live site.

Which field: head or body?

The end of the body. The head fields work too because the script is deferred, but the end of the body keeps the page content first.

Does custom code need a paid Framer plan?

Vendor guides say so; Framer's custom code page does not state it. Check in your platform's help.

Will it work on my free framer.website address?

The chat works there. Page-aware answers use the website address saved in your Allinaa account, so set your real domain there.
