Add the Allinaa chatbot to a Carrd site
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Carrd builds one-page sites, and a one-page site is the easiest case for the Allinaa assistant: the code goes in once. Carrd takes custom code through its Embed element, which its documentation reserves for the Pro Standard plan and higher. This guide follows Carrd's docs and keeps to what they say.
The plan: Pro Standard or higher
Carrd's embedding custom code page describes the Embed element, and its plans page lists embedding custom code among the features of Pro Standard and above. On a free or Pro Lite site the element is not available, so there is no way to add the assistant there; the upgrade is the step before this guide.
Get your code
Your code is in your Allinaa cabinet: step 5 of the setup wizard, or the "Website installation" card on the Overview (sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start if you have no account yet). It looks like this, with your own bot id:
<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>Step by step
- Open your site in the Carrd editor.
- Add an Embed element. Where you place it does not matter for the chat: the button is drawn in a corner of the screen, not where the element sits.
- Paste your code into the element. The options the element offers (how and where it inserts the code) are not covered by our source; if it asks, the code is a script that can go at the end of the page body, or in the head, as the script is deferred.
- Save, then publish the site.
One page, one conversation
Carrd sites are typically a single page, often a profile or link page for a service, a creator or a small business. The assistant answers from the knowledge you approve in your cabinet, so even a short page can carry a full set of answers about prices, hours and how to get in touch; the lead capture page explains how visitors leave their details with their permission. Because the site is one page, there is nothing to repeat on other pages; if your Carrd plan allows several pages, add the element to each.
Check the installation
Check from both sides. As a visitor: open the live site in a private window, look for the button in a bottom corner and open a second page, so you know it is not limited to one. From Allinaa: click Check my site in the cabinet; it reads your homepage and up to two linked pages and answers found, not found or unreachable. The status also turns to installed by itself the first time the assistant loads on a page of your site.
Still nothing? The usual Carrd reason is that the site was not published after the element was added. The troubleshooting page has the rest.
Frequently asked questions
Which Carrd plan do I need?
Pro Standard or higher: Carrd's plans page lists embedding custom code there.
Where should the Embed element sit on the page?
Anywhere. The chat button is drawn in a corner of the screen, not in the element's place.
Does the assistant work on a one-page site?
Yes. It answers from your approved knowledge, so the page itself can stay short.
What if the Embed element asks where to insert the code?
At the end of the body is the usual place; the head also works because the script is deferred.
