Add the Allinaa chatbot to a Blogger blog
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Blogger blogs can carry the Allinaa assistant in two ways: a gadget in the blog's layout that holds HTML and JavaScript, or a line in the theme's HTML. Both routes are known from vendor guides rather than from a Blogger help page we could cite, so this guide describes them plainly and tells you what to confirm in Blogger's own help.
The two routes
The gadget route keeps the code out of your theme: you add a gadget of the HTML/JavaScript kind to the layout and paste the line into it. The gadget shows nothing itself; the chat button appears in a corner of every page that shows the layout. The theme route puts the line into the theme's HTML just before the closing body tag, which is the generic instruction for any website. The gadget is the easier of the two and survives a theme edit; the theme route survives a layout rearrangement. Pick one, not both.
Get your code
Your code is in your Allinaa cabinet: step 5 of the setup wizard, or the "Website installation" card on the Overview (sign up at bot.allinaa.com/start if you have no account yet). It looks like this, with your own bot id:
<script src="https://bot.allinaa.com/widget.js" data-bot-id="your-bot-id" defer></script>Route 1: the layout gadget
- Open your blog's layout in the Blogger dashboard.
- Add a gadget of the HTML/JavaScript kind in any section; where it sits does not matter for the chat. For the exact place of the gadget list, check in Blogger's help.
- Paste your code into the gadget's content, leave the title empty and save the gadget.
- Save the layout, then open the blog to check.
Route 2: the theme's HTML
- Open your blog's theme and its HTML editor. Make a backup of the theme first.
- Find the closing body tag near the end and paste the code on the line before it.
- Save the theme and open the blog to check.
A theme edit is overwritten when you switch themes or restore a backup, so you would paste the line again then. The gadget route avoids that.
Blogspot address or your own domain
The chat works on both. The assistant's page-aware answers use the website address saved in your Allinaa account, so save the address readers actually use, your own domain if you have connected one.
Check the installation
- Open the published site, not the editor, in a private browser window.
- Look for the chat button in a bottom corner, then open a second page.
- Ask something your approved knowledge covers.
- In your Allinaa cabinet click Check my site: it reads your homepage and up to two pages it links to and answers found, not found or unreachable.
