A website chatbot for towing and recovery companies
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Half of a towing company's website traffic is somebody at the side of a road who should be on the phone within seconds, and half is paperwork: releasing a vehicle from storage, moving a car between states or cities, a body shop arranging a collection. A chat box that treats both the same fails both. An Allinaa assistant can be configured to send the first straight to dispatch and to actually answer the second.
Roadside: one step, no questions
Configure the assistant to recognise the wording of a breakdown - broken down, stuck, accident, blocking traffic, won't start, flat on the highway - and to respond with your dispatch number and nothing else in the way of it. The only question worth asking first is the road or the nearest junction, because that decides whether the job is yours at all. Everything else belongs on the phone with a dispatcher who can see the trucks.
If somebody is in a live lane of traffic, your knowledge should carry the one safety sentence you want said - stay in the vehicle with belts on, or get behind the barrier, whichever your local advice is - followed by the number. Write it once, word for word.
Storage and release: the questions that fill your office line
This is where the assistant earns its place, because these questions are endlessly repeated and have exact answers:
- "My car was towed. How do I find out whether you have it?"
- "What do I need to bring to get it back?"
- "What are your release hours?"
- "Is there a daily storage charge, and when does it start?"
- "Can somebody else collect it for me?"
- "The vehicle isn't drivable. Can I have it transported from your yard?"
Write each answer into the knowledge exactly as your office says it: the documents you require, whose name they must be in, what form of payment you take, and your release hours including which days you are closed. The assistant cannot check whether a particular vehicle is in your yard - it has no access to your records - and it should say so and give the office number for that one question.
Charges, written down once
Our charges are a hook-up fee plus a rate per mile, with a higher rate at night and at weekends. Storage is charged per day and starts the day after the vehicle arrives. Winching and recovery from off-road are quoted separately. We will give you the figure before we move the vehicle.
Put your real figures in your own knowledge. The assistant quotes what is written and nothing else: it will not calculate a tow for a distance, and it will not estimate storage to a date, because it does not know today's date and must not pretend to.
Vehicle transport and trade work
Long-distance transport, auction collections, dealer movements and body shop work are planned jobs with real margins, and they are usually arranged by somebody comparing two or three companies in an office. Write that path properly: what you move, the distances you cover, whether you carry non-runners, classics or low-clearance vehicles, whether you are enclosed or open, what insurance cover applies in transit, and how you invoice trade accounts. Those answers are what wins a contract, and they almost never appear on a towing website.
What a transport request should carry
The assistant asks up to three short questions, one at a time: collection and delivery towns, what the vehicle is and whether it runs and steers, and when it needs to move. Then it offers the inquiry form. The visitor confirms their own contact details and agrees to be contacted, you get an e-mail, and the request waits in your inbox with a status, private notes and CSV export. On Premium a photo of the vehicle and of the access settles whether it needs a flatbed.
The boundaries to set before you publish
Decide and write these down: the assistant does not say whether a tow was lawful, does not comment on a private-property impound dispute, does not promise an arrival time, does not confirm that a vehicle is in your yard, and does not advise on an insurance claim. For anything of that kind the answer is your approved sentence and a person. Then test it by asking those exact questions on purpose. See after-hours answers and the launch checklist.
