A website chatbot for independent car dealerships
Written by the Allinaa team · Updated
Shoppers on an independent dealer's website ask specific questions about specific cars: "Does this one have a third row?", "Has it been in an accident?", "Do you have something like this but with lower miles?" An Allinaa assistant answers from the vehicle page they're viewing and your inventory, captures test-drive and trade-in requests, and leaves financing to your finance team.
Questions on the vehicle page, answered from that listing
The assistant knows which page the shopper is on and reads its visible text: year, make, model, trim, mileage, price, features and the description your team wrote. On a vehicle detail page, "does it have heated seats?" gets an answer about that vehicle. If the listing doesn't say, the assistant should say it isn't listed and offer to have a salesperson check, never guess. It only shares links that appear on your page or in your approved knowledge. See page-aware answers.
For history questions (accidents, owners, service records), let the assistant point to the vehicle history report link you show on the page, if you show one, rather than summarizing it.
Finding similar vehicles in your inventory (Premium catalog search)
On Premium, you can import your inventory as a CSV or JSON file with each vehicle's name, price, availability and link on your own website. The assistant then searches it when a shopper asks "anything similar under 60,000 miles?" or sends a photo of a car they like, and replies with matching vehicles: name, price, availability and a link to the listing. Matches come only from your own inventory file. See photo and product search.
Test-drive requests and trade-in details
When a shopper is ready, the assistant asks up to three short clarifying questions, one at a time: which vehicle, preferred day and time, and whether they have a trade-in. For trade-ins, it collects year, make, model, approximate mileage and condition in the customer's words. It doesn't value the trade; your appraiser does. Then the shopper confirms contact details and agrees to be contacted, your sales team gets an e-mail, and the request lands in your inquiry inbox with a status, notes and CSV export. Allinaa does not connect to dealer management systems. See lead capture.
Financing questions: no approvals or rates promised in chat
"Can I get approved with bad credit?" "What would my payment be?" "What's your interest rate?" These answers depend on a credit application and lenders, and getting them wrong can create real problems for a dealership. Write a firm boundary into the knowledge:
I can't quote rates, payments or approvals. Our finance team works with several lenders and will go over options after you complete a credit application. Please don't share your Social Security number or income details in this chat.
The assistant can share your online credit application link if you have one. AI answers can be wrong, so test a few financing questions during setup.
Keeping inventory knowledge current
Answers are only as current as your data:
- Vehicle pages: the assistant reads the page when the shopper asks, so it reflects what your website shows at that moment. If a sold car is still listed, it will answer about it.
- Premium inventory file: availability and price come from your last import. Re-import whenever inventory changes; a car sold yesterday stays "available" in search until you do.
- Approved knowledge: keep general facts like hours, warranty options and documentation fees in the knowledge, not specific cars.
Shoppers who prefer Spanish or another language
Many independent dealers serve Spanish-speaking customers. Standard includes 3 languages, American English plus two you choose. Premium covers all supported languages. Make sure the knowledge says which languages your sales staff speak, so the follow-up matches.
Illustrative conversation
Shopper (on a 2019 SUV listing): Does this have a third row? And can I trade in my sedan?
Assistant: Yes, this SUV has third-row seating for seven. We accept trade-ins, and our appraiser will look at your sedan when you visit. What year, make and model is it, and roughly how many miles?
Shopper: 2015 Camry, 110k. What would my payment be on the SUV?
Assistant: I can't quote payments or rates here. Our finance team will go over options after a credit application. Would you like to schedule a test drive, so you can see the SUV and have your Camry appraised in the same visit?

Questions owners ask
Does the chatbot connect to our dealer management system?
No. It reads your vehicle pages, and on Premium it searches an inventory file you import. Leads arrive by e-mail and in the inquiry inbox.
Will it quote financing or payments?
No. It is set up to decline rate, payment and approval questions and to point shoppers to your finance team or credit application.
Can it value a trade-in?
No. It collects the trade-in details so your appraiser can prepare.
What if a car has sold?
Update your website listing and, on Premium, re-import your inventory file. The assistant answers from the data you provide.
